Barcelona is set to host a diverse range of activities this weekend, including free museum access, numerous concerts, and local markets. Residents can also explore various exhibitions and family-friendly events across the city.

Several Barcelona museums offer free entry on the first Sunday of each month, providing an opportunity to experience the city's cultural offerings without charge. Music enthusiasts can choose from a full agenda of concerts featuring artists such as Eros Ramazzotti, Kiko Veneno, El Último de la Fila, and Luz Casal.

Feria de Abril Returns with Free Access

The Feria de Abril returns to Barcelona from 24 April to 3 May. This year, general access to the fair is free, with a dedicated concert area requiring paid entry. The city also hosts numerous markets on weekends, selling second-hand goods, local crafts, and vintage items.

For art lovers, Barcelona offers a wide selection of exhibitions in both small galleries and large museums. Families can find an updated list of activities tailored for all ages. Additionally, La Barceloneta is celebrating its Spring Festivals from 9 April to 31 May, featuring music, dance, theatre, workshops, storytelling, 'castells' (human towers), and 'gegants' (giants).

Theatre and Immersive Experiences

The city's theatre scene is active with several shows running. These include 'Forever Tango' at Teatre Coliseum, 'Permagel' at Espai Texas, and 'Una bufetada a temps' at La Villarroel. The Teatre Lliure Montjuïc is showing 'Els estunmen' until 3 May, while the Teatre Tívoli hosts 'Ànima' until 10 May.

Barcelona also offers unique immersive experiences. L'Ideal has moved to Montjuïc, presenting a large-format exhibition on Pompeii at Palau Victòria Eugènia. This exhibition features an immersive room, virtual reality, original historical objects, and replicas. At Barcelona Cathedral, 'Gaudí, l'Atelier du divin' provides a virtual reality experience exploring the artist's world.

Free Park Güell Access and Local Markets

Residents registered in Barcelona can now access Park Güell for free using the new Green Pass. This pass allows entry by booking on the official Park Güell website on the day of the visit. The Picasso Museum also offers various options for free weekend visits.

La Model prison is open for free, unguided visits on weekends, allowing visitors to explore its courtyards, galleries, cells, and central panopticon. These visits are available on Fridays from 4pm to 6pm, Saturdays from 10am to 2pm and 4pm to 6pm, and Sundays from 10am to 2pm, except on public holidays and throughout August.

Barcelona is the World Capital of Architecture from 12 February to 13 December, with a long list of activities, including the construction of a city model. For fresh, seasonal produce, several farmers' markets operate across the city. These include Mercat de Germanetes, Mercat de la Terra, and Mercat de Pagès del Guinardó, typically open on Saturday mornings.

Looking ahead, the city will continue to host various cultural events. The festival of singer-songwriters, Barnasants, runs until 10 May, filling the city with concerts. The Sagrada Família neighbourhood is preparing for its local festivals, following the recent celebrations of Sant Josep Oriol. An immersive mapping and music show inside the Pi church can be visited until 30 April.
