Thirteen nightclubs in Barcelona city have been nominated for 'The World's 100 Best Clubs' 2026 awards, with public voting now open for the prestigious international recognition. This marks an increase in nominations for the Catalan capital, solidifying its reputation as a global nightlife destination.
A total of 17 clubs across Barcelona province are in contention for the 2026 list, two more than the previous year for the city itself, according to El Periódico Barcelona. The International Nightlife Association opened public voting on 15 April, which will close on 31 July.
Catalonia has consistently featured prominently in these global rankings. In 2025, four Barcelona nightclubs were among the world's top 100, with Shôko Barcelona (7th) and Opium Barcelona (9th) both securing spots in the top 10. Sutton ranked 12th and Sala Apolo 34th.
Beyond Barcelona city, other Catalan locations also saw clubs recognised in 2025. Lloret de Mar had three venues: Disco Tropics (23rd), St. Trop (74th), and Disco Privé (98th). Lleida's Biloba was 82nd, Tropical Salou from Salou was 85th, Cocoa Mataró from Mataró was 90th, and La Píkkara from Barberà del Vallès was 96th.
How the World's Best Clubs Are Chosen
The selection process for 'The World's 100 Best Clubs' combines public votes with an evaluation by an international professional jury. This dual approach ensures both popular appeal and expert assessment contribute to the final rankings.
According to the International Nightlife Association, the expert jury considers several key aspects when assessing nominees. These include artistic programming, innovation, safety measures, the quality of service provided, digital projection, and the establishment's commitment to sustainability. These criteria help determine which venues ultimately earn a place in the global top 100.
The 13 nominated Barcelona city clubs are: Bling Bling, Boris, Carpe Diem, Gatsby, Input, Ku, Les Enfants Brillants, Luz de Gas, Opium, Razzmatazz, Apolo, Shoko, and Sutton.
Additional clubs from Barcelona province also received nominations. These include Titus (Badalona), La Píkkara (Barberà del Vallès), Phoenix (Calella), and El Cel (Vic).
With voting underway until the end of July, anticipation is building for the announcement of the 2026 results. The continued strong presence of Catalan clubs in these international nominations underscores the region's dynamic nightlife sector and its appeal to a global audience.
