Barcelona City Council says it has helped 47,000 people at municipal facilities with immigration regularisation since the process began. It has also issued 29,800 vulnerability certificates since 16 April, according to municipal data.
The council said nearly 2,000 people have used the legal advice offered by the Catalan administration. It has also processed about 175,440 registration forms and 77,000 certificates of residency, showing the level of demand for support in the city.
From next week, all immigration regularisation procedures and support services will be centralised at the Miquel Bleach centre and Pavilion 2 of Fira de Barcelona. The Sant Miquel and Monumental Citizen Service Offices will no longer provide these services on weekdays, although the Monumental office will continue to process the documents on Saturdays.
The council said the move is intended to streamline the process for people seeking documents and advice. From next Tuesday, the centre will operate from 8am to 8.30pm. Officials said the dedicated space has already centralised the distribution of appointment slots, with more than 17,700 handed out since it opened.
