A man was taken to hospital after being stabbed during a fight between two groups in Badalona, in the Barcelona area of Catalonia, early on Sunday morning. The incident happened around 00:45 on Calle de Chile, in the Artigues neighbourhood.

Initial reports say a verbal dispute escalated into a street fight. One participant reportedly stabbed the victim in the back several times before leaving the scene. Emergency services attended the man and transferred him to hospital for treatment.

Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan police force, have opened an investigation to establish what happened and identify the attacker. Officers at the scene also identified several other people involved in the confrontation.
