Police in Badalona arrested a 40-year-old man on 21 April, accusing him of five armed robberies at a single petrol station in the Lloreda neighbourhood. The Catalan police confirmed the arrest in a statement, noting the incidents occurred between 30 March and 14 April.
According to the Mossos d'Esquadra, the repeated robberies created a strong sense of insecurity among the petrol station's employees and local residents. The five incidents happened on 30 March, and then on 1, 5, 10, and 14 April.
In four of the five robberies, the arrested man worked with another individual. This second man had already been arrested on 10 April for his involvement in the same crimes. Police determined both men used the same method for each robbery.
Robbery Method and Prior Arrest
One person would enter the petrol station and directly threaten the staff member, while the second person stayed outside to watch and help with the escape. An arrest made in Barcelona on 10 April for a robbery in the Eixample district helped police link one of the suspects to the man who acted as lookout in the first four Badalona robberies. This led to his arrest for those incidents.
Despite this initial arrest, the investigation continued. On 14 April, another robbery took place at the same petrol station. The man who had previously entered the premises and threatened staff to steal cash from the till was involved again, showing a pattern of repeat offending.
Suspect Faces Court
Investigators finally arrested the second alleged perpetrator on 21 April. He was identified as the individual who entered the establishment and directly intimidated staff during all five robberies. The suspect appeared before the duty court in Badalona on 23 April.
