A 12-month-old baby was airlifted to Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Barcelona after falling from a first-floor balcony at her home in Pont de Suert, in the Alta Ribagorça area of Lleida.
According to Mossos d'Esquadra sources, police received an alert at 6.30pm on Friday, 12 June. A witness reported seeing the baby climb onto the railing and fall to the ground. The parents were at home at the time.
After hearing shouts, the parents ran to the street and found their child. They then took her to the local CAP, the primary healthcare centre on Canaleta street, near their home.
Municipal sources said the baby received initial medical attention there before being transferred by a SEM, Medical Emergency System, helicopter to Sant Joan de Déu hospital. Her condition was not detailed.
This incident follows another recent accident in Lleida. On 1 June, a three-year-old girl was seriously injured after falling from a fifth-floor window in the Old Quarter's La Parra street. She was first taken to Arnau de Vilanova hospital and later transferred to Parc Taulí in Sabadell.
