The Alt Empordà region in Girona is preparing for a weekend full of activities on 9 and 10 May 2026, offering a selection of cultural, gastronomic, and nature-focused events, according to L'Empordà.
Spring has arrived strongly in the area, bringing with it a packed agenda designed to appeal to a wide range of interests. Events are scheduled across several towns, including Figueres, Roses, Cadaqués, and Llançà, ensuring there are options for everyone.
Cultural Highlights in Figueres and Roses
Figueres, the capital of Alt Empordà, will host the Used Book Fair on Saturday, 9 May. This event is a key date for reading enthusiasts. Additionally, the Teatre Municipal El Jardí will stage "El Petit Príncep" (The Little Prince), an adaptation of the classic story by Saint-Exupéry.
Meanwhile, the coastal town of Roses will celebrate the Sardana Festival on Sunday, 10 May. This traditional Catalan dance event will feature performances by several cobles, which are traditional musical ensembles. Visitors to Roses can also explore the Castell de la Trinitat, with guided tours available throughout the day.
Nature and Local Produce in Cadaqués and Llançà
Cadaqués, famously associated with Salvador Dalí, is offering a hiking route through the Cap de Creus Natural Park this weekend. This route promises spectacular landscapes and unique flora and fauna, providing an opportunity to experience the region's natural beauty.
Llançà will host the Mercat de la Terra (Earth Market) on Saturday, 9 May. This market will feature local produce and artisan crafts, allowing visitors to discover and purchase items from the area. In the afternoon, the Església de Sant Vicenç will be the venue for a classical music concert.
While not part of Alt Empordà, Palamós, located on the Costa Brava, will also contribute to the weekend's offerings. On Sunday, 10 May, it will hold the Fira del Vaixell i la Mar (Boat and Sea Fair), a celebration of maritime tradition with activities suitable for the entire family.
These events represent a portion of the many plans available across the Alt Empordà region this weekend. Local agendas should be consulted for further details and additional activities.
