The Alt Empordà region in northern Catalonia is set to host a diverse range of cultural and community events from 15 to 21 June 2026. Activities include musical performances, book launches, and initiatives promoting LGTBI+ diversity, according to local organisers.
Cadaqués will start the week with a free concert featuring students and teachers from the local music school at Teatre Art i Joia at 7pm on Monday, 15 June. Meanwhile, Figueres' Biblioteca Fages de Climent will present the book La tradició de la vinya i el vi (The Tradition of the Vineyard and Wine) by Llorenç Ferrer Alòs and Eloi Font Pérez at 7pm on the same day.
Llançà's Biblioteca Pere Calders will host a 'Library with Pride' thematic display from 15 to 30 June, marking International LGTBI+ Pride Day on 28 June. This display aims to encourage reflection on sexual and identity diversity through books, magazines, DVDs, and comics.
Literary Events Across the Region
Figueres' Biblioteca Fages de Climent is a hub for literary events throughout the week. On Tuesday, 16 June, Carles Bastons i Vivanco will present his book Memòries d'un professor (Memories of a Professor) at 7pm. Laura Autonell will discuss her novel La llibreria de les hores mortes (The Bookstore of Dead Hours) on Wednesday, 17 June, also at 7pm.
Thursday, 18 June, will see Juan Carlos Casado, co-author and astrophotographer, present Eclipses. La sombra de un gigante (Eclipses: The Shadow of a Giant) at 6:30pm. This event will combine scientific explanation with spectacular images of eclipses and experiments related to upcoming solar eclipses visible in Spain. On Friday, 19 June, Anna M. Velaz will present two books: Teatre inèdit de l'exili (Unpublished Theatre of Exile) by Ambrosi Carrion and Dietaris de la República i la guerra (Diaries of the Republic and the War) by Ferran Soldevila, both at 6:30pm.
Llançà also has a strong literary focus. The Adult Reading Club will meet on Thursday, 18 June, at 7pm at Espai Pi (Casa de Cultura) to discuss Julià Guillamón's Rascaparets, with the author present. This is part of the 25th-anniversary celebrations for Biblioteca Pere Calders.
Music and Community Gatherings
Music will feature prominently across Alt Empordà. Fortià will host a dance with Francesc de Cotón Club at 6pm on Monday, 15 June. Llançà's Aula Musical Tons will hold its end-of-course concert at Casa Marly at 7pm on Tuesday, 16 June.
On Saturday, 20 June, Figueres' Cercle Sport Figuerenc will offer a free music and poetry event, 'Peleas y versos con-sentidos', with Loli García, Raquel Blanca, and Bautista’s Poesía at 6:30pm. Vilabertran's Hort del Prior will host 'El Viver' musical cycle, featuring Carlota Giró at 9pm and Santi Fonfría DJ Set at 11pm.
Sunday, 21 June, marks International Music Day, and Llançà will celebrate with a concert by the Coral Tramuntana Soul from Aula Musical de Llançà, collaborating with Fredrik Strand, La Coral d’Ultramort, and the Jove Orquestra de Figueres. This performance will take place at Llançà Church at 12:30pm. Figueres will also have a dance with Nova Gamma at Sala de Ball Erato at 5:30pm.
Special Events and Anniversaries
Llançà's Biblioteca Pere Calders will hold an institutional event on Friday, 19 June, at 7pm at Espai Beta (Casa de Cultura) to commemorate its 25th anniversary. The library, which opened in 2001, has organised a month of activities dedicated to reading and books.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, a children's storytelling session, 'LGTBIQA+ Fairy Tales for Diversity', will be presented by drag artist Barda Petarda on Saturday, 20 June, at 12pm at Espai Beta. This inclusive show aims to promote respect and break stereotypes through stories, dances, puppets, and games.
Other community events include a blood donation bus in Figueres' Plaça Catalunya from 10am to 2pm on Thursday, 18 June. Llançà's Espai Jove will host a discussion on aesthetic pressure at 5pm on Wednesday, 17 June, and a karaoke afternoon at 5pm on Saturday, 20 June. The town will also host an 'Ibiza Party' with DJ RKO on the Passeig Marítim from 11pm on Saturday, 20 June. The Biblioplatja service will run from 20 June to 6 September at Casa del Mar, offering books by the beach.
