Aitona mayor Rosa Pujol will stand with the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC) in the 2027 municipal elections, with the announcement set for Thursday 28 May 2026. She is due to appear alongside Òscar Ordeig, the PSC's first secretary in Lleida and a regional councillor.
The move comes with exactly one year to go until the 23 May 2027 local elections. Parties across Catalonia are already shaping their candidate lists, although the process is moving faster in some places than others. In Aitona, the PSC offer to Pujol has been known for some time.
Pujol has been mayor since 2010. She first stood with CiU, then with PDeCAT in the previous term, and since 2023 she has led the APL list. She is also linked with local projects such as Fruiturisme.
The article says she will run under a white label brand in 2027. That arrangement is expected to add to the PSC's weight in bodies such as regional councils and the Diputació. For background on the party, see the news tag page.
The PSC also leads the Generalitat, and Pujol has worked with the government on projects in Aitona. One example is the planned renovation of the historic bridge over the Segre river, with a budget of €4 million. For official party information, see the PSC website and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
