Monthly €500 Support for Oposició Candidates
The Generalitat de Catalunya has launched a financial aid programme offering 120 young people a monthly grant of €500 to support their preparation for civil service entrance exams (oposicions) for administrative roles within the regional government.
The grant, available to applicants under 30, aims to reduce socioeconomic barriers for those unable to afford preparatory courses, study materials, or full-time study time. Payments will be made monthly for up to 12 months or until the final exam stage of the selection process, whichever comes first, and will cease by 31 December 2027 at the latest.
According to the Generalitat’s official portal for public sector employment, beneficiaries will be subject to active monitoring, including quarterly assessments, to ensure genuine and consistent study progress.
Eligibility Criteria and Application
To qualify, applicants must meet five key requirements:
- Be under 30 years of age and hold the academic qualification required for the civil service body they are applying to.
- Have annual household income not exceeding €19,000 per family member.
- Work no more than 30 hours per week, whether employed or self-employed.
- Not receive other similar grants or financial aid.
- Be up to date with tax and social security obligations.
Applications are currently open and must be submitted by 14 October 2026. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to renew the public workforce, as nearly 12% of current civil servants are expected to retire by 2030.
The Generalitat aims to ensure equal access to public sector careers based on merit, ability, and opportunity, not financial background.
This measure complements other targeted grants, including 50 new scholarships announced in September 2026 for candidates preparing for judicial, prosecutor, and legal officer roles, supported by the Ministry of Justice and the Centre d'Estudis Jurídics i Formació Especialitzada (Cejfe).
Applicants can submit their forms via the Generalitat’s official grants portal for competitive examination preparation.
