Around 2,800 Catalan secondary school students participated in the ninth Fisidabo event at Barcelona's Tibidabo Amusement Park on Wednesday. They applied physics and mathematics knowledge through various experiments, according to Europa Press Barcelona.
The event, organised by Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM) and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-Barcelona Tech (UPC), is part of the STEAM programme. This initiative aims to promote scientific careers among young people, BSM said in a statement.
Students formed groups within the park to conduct experiments linked to different attractions. Engineering Physics students from the UPC guided these activities.
Hands-on Learning at Attractions
For instance, participants analysed vertical motion and calculated acceleration on the Merlí free-fall ride. On the Muntanya Russa roller coaster, they studied changes in energy and speed throughout the ride.
This year's event brings the total number of students who have attended Fisidabo at Tibidabo to over 12,000. The programme started in 2012 and has received the National Research Award in the Scientific Communication category.
