Vinseum – Museu de les Cultures del Vi de Catalunya has signed collaboration agreements with five local media outlets in Vilafranca del Penedès to strengthen the dissemination of its cultural, educational and institutional activities.
The partnerships, formalised on Friday 25 September 2026, include El 3 de Vuit, RTV Vilafranca, La Fura, El Cargol and l’Espurna. These outlets will now form part of Vinseum’s official network of Communication Media, enhancing the museum’s presence across local platforms.
The one-year agreements, automatically renewable, will support ongoing promotion of Vinseum’s exhibitions, events and research initiatives. The museum reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with local media, recognising their role in spreading knowledge and strengthening community engagement with Catalan wine heritage.
Expanding Cultural Reach
Vinseum is also gaining national recognition. A resolution by the Council of Museums of Catalonia on 10 April 2026 has advanced its candidacy for recognition as a Museum of National Interest by the Generalitat, reflecting its growing institutional importance.
The museum, based in Vilafranca del Penedès, has undergone significant development since its founding in 1935. A major architectural renovation culminated in November 2024 with the opening of an expanded facility offering around 5,000 m² of exhibition space.
International Collaboration in Wine Tourism
Vinseum is also coordinating a project to export the Penedès region’s enotourism model to Montevideo and Canelones in Uruguay. The initiative aims to help Uruguayan producers adopt a unified promotional strategy, similar to the collaborative public-private approach used in Catalonia.
The model combines public and private management to boost enotourism and wine sales, moving beyond fragmented individual efforts.
Director Xavier Fornos highlighted that the Penedès region previously faced similar challenges, with cellars promoting themselves in isolation. The shift toward shared regional branding has enhanced prestige and demand. This experience is now being shared internationally to support Uruguay’s wine industry development.
