Emergency Response Underway
The Tiana City Council has activated all municipal brigades and cleaning and gardening teams to address damage caused by torrential rains that hit the town this morning. The downpour, which delivered over 200 mm of rain in a short period, triggered landslides, felled trees, and caused localized flooding. Despite the severity of the weather, no injuries have been reported. The Municipal Civil Protection Plan (DUPROCIM) has been in emergency phase since Saturday, coordinated with Catalonia’s regional flood emergency plan, INUNCAT.
Roads Closed, Access Restricted
The Riera d’en Font area has been the most severely affected. A path between homes and Verge del Pilar street has been reopened, but only for residents, with two-way traffic under temporary light control. Non-residents are urged to avoid the area. Access remains closed to the public in parts of Can Jordana, Mare de Déu del Carme street, and the upper section of the Riera d’en Font, where heavy machinery will resume work Monday morning to remove sediment. The B500 road was temporarily closed due to falling rocks, and the route to Cartoixa remains shut because of landslide risks.

These areas have experienced minor landslides, requiring clearance work.
Facilities and Services Impacted
Branches have fallen in Doctor Barraquer and Vicente Lino Ferrandiz parks. The municipal pavilion suffered flooding, and the Dioptria building experienced leaks that affected its electrical system. The Dioptria study room will reopen Monday, but the community centre and Espai Jove may remain closed longer pending safety checks. The Local Police responded to dozens of calls about flooded basements. Together with the Fire Department, they attended a collapsed party wall on Sant Francesc street. Prior to the storm, the council issued preventive alerts advising residents to move vehicles out of stream zones and take safety precautions.
