Horta de Sant Joan, in the Terres de l'Ebre region, will host the first Biosphere Reserve Congress on 11 and 12 June. The event, organised by the Consortium of Environmental Policies of the Terres de l'Ebre (COPATE), seeks to create new opportunities for local businesses.

The congress is funded by the Nuclear Transition Fund. It aims to provide businesses with spaces for knowledge sharing, exchange, and advice, according to COPATE officials.

Boosting Local Business

COPATE stated that the congress responds to a desire to generate opportunities for the business community in the territory. This includes offering companies access to information and networking.

The Terres de l'Ebre region is recognised as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, highlighting its natural and cultural value. This designation often brings both opportunities and challenges for local development. The congress will likely address how businesses can best operate within this protected status.

Looking ahead, the congress is expected to lay the groundwork for future initiatives that support economic growth while preserving the region's unique environment. Discussions may focus on sustainable tourism, local produce, and other sectors that align with the Biosphere Reserve's principles.
