Five-Day Closure for Roadworks

Drivers entering Terrassa via Avenida de Barcelona will face a five-day closure of southbound traffic between Plaça de la Dona and Plaça dels Països Catalans. The restriction begins on Monday, 31 August 2026, and ends on Friday, 4 September, as part of scheduled asphalt improvement works. One lane will remain open for northbound traffic, but all vehicles travelling south will be required to divert. The Ajuntament de Terrassa has confirmed that Pau Marsal Street will serve as the official alternative route.

Bus Routes and Stops Affected

Urban bus lines L3, L9, and LH will alter their routes during the closure. Several stops along Avenida de Barcelona (southbound) and Pau Marsal Street will be temporarily suspended. To maintain service, provisional bus stops will be established on Pau Marsal Street at the intersections with Lleó XIII, Miquel Vives, and Estanislau Figueras streets. The intercity bus E2.2, which connects Terrassa with Barcelona Zona Universitària, will also change its route. Its provisional stop will be located on Pau Marsal Street near Lleó XIII.

Context: Ongoing Urban Changes

Pau Marsal Street has been the focus of multiple municipal projects. In September 2022, traffic was restricted between Marinel·lo Bosch Street and Plaça dels Països Catalans for urbanisation works under the Pla de Millora Urbana PMU_BAR0003. The street is also set to host a future healthcare complex, including a new primary care centre (CAP), a primary care emergency unit (CUAP), a SEM base, and a sociosanitary intermediate care facility (HAI), as confirmed by CatSalut.

The city is reorganising mobility in the southern stretch of Avenida de Barcelona as part of broader urban upgrades.

Residents are advised that the area has seen repeated disruptions due to infrastructure projects, including recent sewage works and preparations for new residential and healthcare developments.

Motorists should plan alternative routes via Pau Marsal Street during the closure period. Public transport users are urged to check updated timetables via the Ajuntament de Terrassa's official portal for real-time service changes. The works are expected to conclude by Friday, 4 September, with normal traffic flow resuming thereafter.
