The Spar Girona and FIATC Girona basketball teams will begin their pre-season campaigns in Platja d’Aro this month. The men’s team, Spar Girona, faces Manresa CBF on Friday 28 August at 8:00 PM in the second edition of the Platja d’Aro Basketball Tournament. The women’s team, FIATC Girona, follows on Saturday 29 August at the same time and venue, playing against England’s Cheshire Phoenix.
Both matches mark the first competitive outings for the teams following the start of pre-season training on 17 August. For Spar Girona, the game offers an early test for head coach Roberto Íñiguez’s squad after initial training sessions. FIATC Girona may be without key players Pluta, Kunc, and N’Guessan, who are on national team duty.

Admission tickets are available through the official club website basquetgirona.com. General entry for the Spar Girona match costs €5, with front-row seats priced at €20. The FIATC Girona fixture has higher demand, with general tickets at €10 and front-row access at €25.
Expanded collaboration with Platja d’Aro
The tournament reflects a deepening partnership between Bàsquet Girona and the coastal municipality. Since 2020, the club and local authorities in Castell d’Aro, Platja d’Aro and S’Agaró have collaborated on promotional activities, youth basketball camps, public training sessions, and official kit launches.

Further fixtures to be confirmed
After the Platja d’Aro games, FIATC Girona travels to Vilatorta to face San Pablo Burgos on 4 September, expected to field a full squad. The team will then compete in the Catalan League in Tarragona, facing Lleida and Joventut. A win could lead to semi-final and final ties.
Spar Girona plays only one friendly before its own Catalan League fixture, a single match against Cadí la Seu on 23 September. Additional pre-season games are yet to be officially announced by the club.
