Seven people were arrested in Empuriabrava, in Castelló d'Empúries, after an attempted squat at a vacant house in the Biblos sector. The arrests took place on Tuesday night after local residents raised the alarm.
Neighbours contacted Castelló d'Empúries Local Police about a possible occupation at a property on Tramuntana Street. Officers arrived and found a group trying to enter the house, which had been empty for some time.
Police stopped the attempted occupation and arrested all seven people involved. They were taken to police facilities, and the Local Police then informed the Mossos d'Esquadra, who are now leading the investigation to determine any criminal responsibility.
According to police sources, the arrested people are Romanian nationals and have previous records for similar offences. The property owner thanked the police for their quick response and thanked the public for helping prevent the illegal occupation.
