Barcelona commuters and rail passengers using Sants station are facing changing access routes as ADIF carries out phased rebuilding work at the city’s main rail hub.
The station remains open, but the ways in and around the complex can change. That affects people travelling on AVE high-speed services, Rodalies commuter trains, and anyone arriving by road or changing at Plaça dels Països Catalans.
According to ADIF, the project includes remodelling the passenger building, adding new concourses, and carrying out staged work across the station complex. Barcelona City Council has also set out traffic changes around Sants linked to the works, including the area near Plaça dels Països Catalans.
ADIF says the transformation is being done step by step so the station can keep operating while the building, public spaces and nearby streets are updated. The changes affect travellers across Barcelona and nearby towns, as well as longer-distance passengers using the station.
