Salou’s Sabor Salou food festival opened on Friday, 22 May 2026, on the Jaume I promenade, bringing 56 stands to the seafront for a weekend of local food, regional products and new culinary ideas.

The opening event was a 20-metre hazelnut and ratafia tiramisu, described as the world’s largest. More than 2,000 portions were served, raising €2,000 for Creu Roja, Càritas and Eluzai.

Chef Edu Cuesta led the project with local cooks and the Salou Hospitality Business Association. He dedicated the dessert to former councillor Maria José Rodríguez, and to Ricard Font and Quim Font, saying Quim Font taught him how to make tiramisu.

At the opening, Salou mayor Pere Granados called Sabor Salou “a great gastronomic showcase” and said it helps position the town as a culinary leader. He also thanked the chefs involved and said the restaurant sector is not only an economic and tourism driver, but also a space for community, participation and charity.

The 56 stands offer tapas, rice dishes, gourmet burgers, seafood, international cuisine, artisan sweets, wines, cavas, beers and local products. The weekend programme also includes beer tastings, Thermomix cooking workshops, activities focused on Siurana Protected Designation of Origin olive oil, children’s fruit and cupcake decorating workshops, artisan honey tastings, and wine tastings from the DO Catalunya and Tarragona regions.
