Filming for the Hollywood production The Last Druid, starring Russell Crowe and directed by William Eubank, has been halted in Sant Cugat del Vallès, in the Barcelona area, after Catalan officials said the site was not properly fenced to stop wild boar movement.

The Catalan Department of Agriculture will issue a legal order to the production company, requiring a stop to activity on the former golf course owned by Incasòl. The decision is linked to measures to contain African swine fever, and to prevent the spread of infected wild boar.

Rural Agents said the film promoters had already been warned about fencing problems. The permit for filming, which was first granted in February, will remain suspended until the site is fully isolated.

In Sant Cugat del Vallès, the council has also raised concerns about access restrictions in natural areas such as Volpelleres forest and the Torrenegra area in Collserola Park. It says the limits affect the daily use of these spaces by around 5,000 residents.

To address the dispute, Agriculture Minister Òscar Ordeig and the mayor of Sant Cugat del Vallès are due to meet this Friday. Sources from the department told the Catalan News Agency (ACN) that the aim is to find an alternative within the legal framework, although any change will depend on the epidemiological situation of the swine fever.
