Roses is expanding its youth programmes and events for 2026, with increased capacity for popular summer activities and new cultural festivals. The initiatives, organised by the town's Youth Department, aim to support young people aged 12 to 29 in the Girona municipality.

Pre-registration for the Estiu Jove (Youth Summer) programme opens on 13 April, offering more places for July due to high demand. This programme, running through July and August, combines leisure, sport, and community activities for 13 to 16-year-olds.

Additionally, the 'Feina Jove Roses' (Young Work Roses) programme will connect young people aged 16 to 29 with local businesses. A campaign to publicise job offers starts on 13 April and will be updated regularly.

Cultural and Entertainment Highlights

The town's cultural calendar for 2026 includes several major events. The 6th Roses Free Battle, a rap battle focused on improvisation and artistic expression, will take place on 2 May at the Municipal Theatre. The Saló Tecnologia i Manga (Technology and Manga Fair) will hold its fourth edition on 7 and 8 March at the Pista Polivalent, offering free entry and activities for gaming and manga enthusiasts, as well as families.

Music fans can look forward to the Festa Major de Roses, with Els Catarres confirmed to open the concerts on 11 August. The 10th Mediterranea Festival on 1 August will feature international urban music star Myke Towers, marking his first performance on the Costa Brava.

Roses will also host its renowned Carnival from 12 to 16 February, with over 5,700 registered participants for the parades. The Municipal Theatre hosted the Carnival's presentation, which included a draw for parade order.

Health and Well-being Initiatives

The Youth Department continues to offer a free Emotional Support Service for 12 to 29-year-olds, providing advice and accompaniment for mental health concerns at the Espai Jove. Appointments can be made in advance.

Educational programmes also address critical youth issues. The 'Fem Salut' (Let's Be Healthy) campaign, in collaboration with the Alt Empordà Regional Council, worked with 270 third-year ESO students from Institut Cap Norfeu, Institut Illa de Rodes, and Centre Escolar Empordà on healthy habits, addictions, and emotional well-being. Furthermore, the 'Selecció Natural' (Natural Selection) project engaged second-year ESO students from the same three institutes in December to raise awareness about school bullying.

Winter and Christmas Activities

The Espai Jove's Winter Programme 2026, running from 26 January to 28 March, offers a range of free activities for young people. For the Christmas period, the Youth Department organised various free events on 29 and 30 December for 12 to 29-year-olds. These included a bingo game, breakfast, a cinema trip, an escape room, and a final party with hot chocolate, DJ sets, and a lantern release.

The third Festa Calendari d'AdVInt, a collaboration between the Youth Department and the Joventut Rosinka association, took place on 20 December. This event aimed to bring young people together at the start of the Christmas holidays with a pub crawl and musical performances in Plaça Frederic Rahola.

Looking ahead, the Youth Department and Social Services will commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25N) with theatrical performances, a painting workshop, and a public reading of a manifesto.
