Catalan.News is published by Pub.cat ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this website at catalan.news.
What data we collect
We collect the following data: email addresses when you subscribe to our newsletter; name, email, and message content when you use the contact form; technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited via analytics; and cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.
How we use your data
We use your data to deliver the newsletter you subscribed to, to respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form, to understand how our site is used and improve our content, and to comply with legal obligations.
Legal basis (GDPR)
We process your data on the basis of consent (newsletter signup, contact form), legitimate interest (analytics, site improvement), and legal obligation (retention of records).
Who we share data with
We use the following third-party processors: Ghost (CMS and newsletter delivery), Formspree (contact form processing), Google Analytics (anonymised traffic analysis), and wsrv.nl (image optimisation CDN). We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers.
Data retention
Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for 12 months. Analytics data is retained for 26 months in anonymised form.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@catalan.news. We will respond within 30 days.
International transfers
Some processors (Google, Formspree) may transfer data outside the EU. These transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Governing law
This policy is governed by Spanish law. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD).
