Mollerussa, in Lleida province, concluded its four-day Festa Major on 17 May 2026, marked by significant public participation and strong involvement from local associations. The city hosted over 50 cultural, sporting, and leisure activities for all ages since Thursday.
Sunday's main event was the Diada Castellera, a human towers display, held in Plaça de Manuel Bertrand. It featured groups such as Margeners de Guissona, Tirallongues de Manresa, and Malfargats del Pallars, bringing popular culture to the forefront of the festival. The second day of the popular 'Vermut' event, organised by Colla del 76, also saw high attendance, mirroring the success of Friday's 'Vespreig' and Saturday's first 'Vermut'.
Saturday Sees Peak Activity
Saturday experienced the highest attendance and activity levels, largely due to the contributions of the city's sports, cultural, and social organisations. Notable events included the 20th 'Trobada Gegantera i Grallera', organised by Colla Gegantera i Grallera de L’Arreu, which celebrated the tenth anniversary of its giants, Pepito and Carme. The 'Gran Correfoc', a fire run by Diables de Mollerussa, marked their 40th anniversary. The JoveFest, featuring concerts by Crit, Jambolainers, and DJ Rayko, filled the bowling alley marquee with people of all ages.
New additions to this year's programme were well-received. These included the Fita Alta Madness charity race, organised by El Rovell, and a popular orientation race by Serralada. Both activities brought sports and community participation into the city centre.
Cultural Hubs and Evening Entertainment
Teatre L’Amistat served as a central venue, hosting 'havaneres' by Pescadors de l’Escala on Friday, the comedy play 'Cunyades' on Saturday, and a concert by the Sant Andreu Jazz Band on Sunday. Evening concerts at Pavelló Pla d’Urgell, including the Hands UP Festival on Friday and Banda Neón on Saturday, also proved popular.
Throughout the four days, there were activities for families, such as morning games, the Holi festival, and afternoon shows. Younger attendees enjoyed the Dancing Molle party, while older residents had sardana dances, concerts, and afternoon dances with orchestras like La Selvatana, La Maravella, and Nueva Etapa. The Festa Major concluded on Sunday night with the traditional firework display from Plaça de l’Orfeó Renaixença.
