Top Summer Destinations for Manresa Travellers

Manresa residents are most likely to spend their holidays within Spain’s borders, with El Vendrell and Calafell emerging as the preferred coastal destinations, according to experimental tourism statistics from Spain’s National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The data, based on aggregated mobile phone location records provided by Spain’s three major telecom operators, tracked travel patterns in June, the most recent month with available figures.

During that month, 2,234 residents of Manresa travelled to the Baix Penedès region: 1,120 to El Vendrell and 1,114 to Calafell. These towns have long been accessible via direct bus links and the Diagonal motorway, making them convenient and affordable summer getaways compared to the more expensive Costa Brava.

Regional and National Preferences

  • Castell d’Aro ranked third with 774 visitors
  • Madrid was the fourth most popular destination and the top choice outside Catalonia, with 641 visitors
  • Salou (624), Roda de Berà (538), Tarragona (462), and Torredembarra (451) also featured in the top ten
  • Other coastal towns in Tarragona and Girona provinces, including Palamós (526) and Lloret de Mar (521), followed closely

The ten most visited destinations account for 42% of all recorded trips made by Manresa residents in June.

The Costa Daurada remains the holiday region of choice for Manresa citizens, a trend rooted in mid-20th century accessibility and sustained by transport links.

Further down the list, non-coastal destinations appear less frequently. The first inland municipality outside Madrid was Sant Llorenç de Morunys, with 181 visitors.

For trips abroad, France was the top destination, with 1,686 Manresa residents travelling there in June. Andorra followed with 846 visitors, then Italy (678), Portugal (324), the United Kingdom (190), and Germany (186).

Europe accounted for 4,712 of the 5,006 international trips recorded, representing 94% of all outbound travel from Manresa. The Americas attracted 124 travellers, including 44 to the United States, while 101 visited African countries, primarily Morocco (59).

Only 26 of the 109 total destinations recorded were outside Catalonia, highlighting the strong regional focus of Manresan holiday travel.
