Lloret de Mar notary and alpinist Jordi J. Fugardo Pelliser has reached the summit of Mount Everest, according to local reports. The ascent adds another major milestone to his mountaineering record and brings him closer to completing the Seven Summits challenge.
The Seven Summits challenge means climbing the highest peak on each of the world’s seven continents. Everest, at 8,849 metres, is the highest of them all, and Fugardo’s climb followed weeks of acclimatisation and a wait for suitable weather.
Fugardo’s expedition had been planned in advance, and his success on Everest now leaves him near the end of the full Seven Summits circuit. The project is widely recognised in mountaineering circles as a test of endurance, preparation and technical skill.
