Llívia, Catalonia. The Cerdanya Comarcal Council has reinforced emergency collection areas for its door-to-door waste service in Llívia after complaints from residents and the local council.

The council, which manages the service, said the existing collection points in the municipality were not enough to meet demand. The change is intended to improve waste management and make the system easier to use.

The door-to-door service has been introduced gradually across the Cerdanya region. It aims to improve selective waste collection and reduce the amount of rubbish sent to landfill, according to the council.

Cerdanya is one of the pioneering regions in Catalonia to use this model. The council said the new emergency areas will be operational from next week, and residents will be able to deposit all types of waste there.

The council also thanked residents and Llívia Town Council for their cooperation. For more local coverage, see our news page.
