Lles de Cerdanya has opened a tourist information point inside the Ajuntament, or town hall, giving residents and visitors a single place to find information on the municipality's villages, natural areas, walking routes, restaurants, services and events.
The facility opened during the Diada de la Cerdanya, a gathering of local authorities and residents from communities on both sides of the border. It will be open on weekday mornings and all day at weekends, offering visitors a practical starting point for planning visits and residents an additional local source of information about the area.
Interactive guide to Lles and its surroundings
The information point includes an audiovisual presentation, printed leaflets and an interactive digital totem. The material is intended to help people explore the municipality's heritage independently.
“It makes use of a space in the town hall, gives it a purpose and provides information so that each person can discover the municipality independently, through every aspect of its heritage.”Esther Castilla, Mayor of Lles de Cerdanya
Visitors can find the point at the Ajuntament de Lles de Cerdanya, on C/ del Mig, Lles de Cerdanya. The council lists its general public opening hours as Monday to Friday, 09:00–10:30 and 11:00–14:00, and its telephone number as 973 515 047.
Housing and local services discussed at Diada gathering
The Diada began with an assembly of representatives from across the Cerdanya comarca, or county area, followed by a discussion on resilient villages. Housing was the central issue.
Mayors shared experiences of creating protected housing, meaning homes subject to public affordability rules, and discussed the challenge of sustaining active communities in small municipalities. They also raised the need for public services to be planned for the comarca's population.
Sílvia Romero, the Generalitat's representative in Alt Pirineu i Aran, referred to measures taken in recent years to increase the stock of publicly owned housing.
The programme also included a street procession with capgrossos, traditional figures wearing oversized heads, accompanied by La Col and the Moixons del Segre musicians. The procession stopped for the opening of the Bruixes exhibition before a performance by the Colla Castellera de Cerdanya, a team that builds human towers, in Plaça de Sant Pere.
Bad weather cancelled the artisan producers' market and wooden games for children. The day continued with music, a community lunch, recognition for athletes and the theatre work Entre Mans – Women Farmers, Women Standing, about women running agricultural holdings.
