A 46-year-old woman from Lleida died on Thursday night after being hit by a vehicle on the A-2 motorway as it passes through Bell-lloc, according to the Catalan Traffic Service. The victim, identified as E.C.M., is the fifth traffic fatality in the Lleida region this year.

Mossos d'Esquadra officers were alerted at 22:10 on Thursday to a road incident at kilometre 474 of the A-2 in Bell-lloc, heading towards Mollerussa. A car fatally struck a pedestrian at this point on the A-2 for reasons still under investigation. Two Mossos d'Esquadra patrols and four SEM (Medical Emergency System) units were activated following the incident, but they could not save the victim's life.

Before the fatal collision on the motorway, the woman had been seen walking on the Ll-11 road, and her destination was unknown, according to reliable sources who spoke to the newspaper. Pedestrians are not permitted to walk on motorways and dual carriageways due to the high risk of being hit by a vehicle.
