Firefighters from the Generalitat extinguished a fire that broke out in a ground-floor workshop on Carrer Vallès in Lleida at 22.15 on Sunday night. The blaze spread rapidly, causing the first-floor slab of the building to collapse and leaving the structure in a "ruinous" state due to the total impact of the flames.

The intensity of the fire forced the evacuation of the affected building and nine neighbouring ones, including five on Carrer Vallès, three on Carrer Corts Catalanes, and two on Carrer Hospitalers de Sant Joan. By 08.30 on Monday morning, two buildings remained evacuated, though most residents had been allowed to return home.

Crews deploy 15 units and drones

A total of 15 firefighting units and the drone unit were deployed to monitor the incident and assess structural risks. The municipal architect from Paeria was also called to evaluate the building’s stability.

No one was injured in the incident.

The Servei d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) dispatched two ambulances to the scene but confirmed to Europa Press that no medical treatment was required.
