Figueres, in Girona province, will observe its local public holiday on Monday, 25 May, the city council has said. The date replaces the traditional Santa Creu festival, which is normally held on 3 May.
The change was needed because 3 May falls on a Sunday this year. To make sure residents still have a local day off, Figueres City Council moved the holiday to 25 May.
The substitute date coincides with Dilluns de Pasqua Granada, also known as Easter Monday, which will now serve as the city’s local holiday.
