The Diputació de Tarragona, the provincial authority, has allocated €2.7 million to 83 municipalities and decentralised municipal entities (EMDs) to repair damage caused by adverse weather and deal with exceptional situations across Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l'Ebre and Baix Penedès.
For residents, the grants will fund repairs to local roads, beaches and coastal defences, as well as urgent measures linked to drinking-water supply. The 133 funded actions include works in Altafulla, Alcanar, Roda de Berà, Xerta and Freginals.
Coastal, road and water-supply works included
Altafulla will receive two grants totalling €108,474.99 to repair the sea wall on the Botigues de Mar promenade after autumn storms. Alcanar has been awarded two grants worth €32,804 for damage caused by the September 2023 torrential rain.
- Roda de Berà will receive €19,468.68 for beach damage.
- Xerta has been allocated €88,000 to repair municipal roads damaged by storms.
- Freginals will receive €115,680.30 for repairs to storm-damaged municipal roads.
- l'Espluga de Francolí has been granted €45,000 for drinking-water deliveries by tanker.
- Vilaplana will receive €9,661.50 to build a new well, while Falset has been allocated €2,094.02 to repair a water pump.
The funding also covers urgent responses to exceptional incidents, including problems maintaining a drinking-water supply.
Budget has more than doubled since 2018
The Diputació said the budget line has increased in response to local authorities' needs and changing climate conditions. Its allocation was €1.2 million in 2018, less than half of the €2.7 million assigned in 2024.
