Barcelona will host the international 'The Best in Heritage' event from 11 to 13 November, making the city a global hub for cultural heritage. This event focuses on showcasing excellent projects in museology and cultural heritage management, attracting professionals and leading initiatives from around the world.

Institutional partners for this year's edition include the Catalan Cultural Heritage Agency, Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Provincial Council, and "la Caixa" Foundation. These organisations aim to promote knowledge exchange, innovation, and the democratisation of cultural heritage. The event annually presents about 40 outstanding projects recognised by national or international awards from the previous year.

Showcasing Global Heritage Excellence

The gathering allows for sharing the most transformative experiences in heritage within a single framework, concluding with the selection of the best project among all participants. This year's edition will again take place in various heritage venues across Barcelona, strengthening Catalonia's standing as an international reference in culture, museology, and cultural heritage management. For the second consecutive year, the Catalan capital will host presentations, debates, networking spaces, and activities that will bring contemporary and emerging sector proposals into dialogue.

Since its creation, 'The Best in Heritage' has become a prestigious international platform that highlights excellent initiatives, helps networking, and drives the circularity of knowledge globally. For 25 years, these conferences were held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, before moving for the first time in 2025 to Barcelona, which became the new epicentre of cultural heritage. This year's edition offers an opportunity to give international projection to Catalan museums, institutions, and cultural and artistic heritage, positioning the city as a global example of innovation and excellence in heritage management.

Promoting International Cultural Projects

'The Best in Heritage' is a non-governmental organisation based in Zagreb, Croatia, dedicated to promoting excellence in various professional fields of cultural heritage management. Professor Tomislav S. Šola, the current director and chairman of the advisory board, was key in driving the conferences in his home country. The 'The Best in Heritage' conferences are held under the patronage of Europa Nostra and the International Council of Museums (ICOM), with collaboration from several international cultural institutions.

This platform offers significant global visibility, helping knowledge exchange, professional networking, and the presentation of the most new initiatives in cultural heritage. The meeting provides access to a collection of distinguished historical projects, forming a reference space for heritage and museology professionals.
