Barcelona will mark the arrival of the Tour de France 2026 with more than 60 activities across its ten districts from 26 June to 5 July. City officials say the Festa Major del Tour is intended to stand alongside Santa Eulàlia and La Mercè as one of the city’s main festivals.
The programme includes 10 concerts, 8 performing arts and dance companies, 18 street performances, and a new itinerant production. The two main stages will be Plaça de la Catedral and Plaça Margarida Xirgu.
Plaça de la Catedral will host performances by Doctor Prats, Sexenni, 31 FAM, Suu, Sidonie, Ladilla Rusa, Ambauka and Xiula. It will also include popular culture activities such as giant dances and castellers, the human towers that are part of Catalan tradition. Plaça Margarida Xirgu will feature music, dance, circus and street theatre, with artists including Joan Garriga, DJ Trapella, Zum Zum Teatre and Mercabanda.
Another part of the programme is Le Tour on Tour, a float led by stage creator Sergi Ots. It will travel through all ten districts between 27 June and 2 July with cycling-themed music and street theatre. The city will also stage Barcelona en ruta, with 18 decentralised cultural actions in squares, markets and commercial areas.
The celebration also links to Barcelona’s role as the European capital of local commerce in 2026. Fourteen commercial hubs, including Born, Passeig de Gràcia, Eix Gaudí and Gran de Gràcia, will take part, along with six shopping centres, 40 municipal markets and more than 2,500 shops. One food-related addition is Pa del Tour, a special bread created by the City Council and the Barcelona Bakers’ Guild. Baker Enric Badia, from Forn Elias, has designed a round bun of about 12 centimetres in diameter, inspired by a bicycle wheel. It is made with wheat and semolina flour, olive oil, rosemary, thyme, dried tomato and Comté cheese, and finished with poppy seeds. It will be sold in about 2,400 bakeries from 26 June, and the Guild will share the recipe and a tutorial with all bakers.
The Festa Major will lead into the Grand Départ itself. On 2 July, the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site will host the team presentation. The Fan Park will open from 2 to 5 July. The team time trial will take place through Barcelona on 4 July, and the second stage will finish at Montjuïc on 5 July. Ten giant jerseys in all districts and yellow lighting on landmark buildings will add to the city atmosphere.
