Atlètic Lleida ended their Segona RFEF season with a 3-0 defeat against Andratx in Mallorca yesterday. Both teams had already been relegated, making the match a formality.
The Lleida side travelled with only 16 players, not completing their squad due to a technical decision. Joel Llobera, the third-choice goalkeeper, made his debut and saved an early shot from Garry in the 14th minute.
Jaume Pascual hit the crossbar with a long-range shot in the 23rd minute. Later, in the 42nd minute, Pascual received a pass from Agüero but shot directly at Andratx goalkeeper Lluís Francisco.
Second Half Penalties Decide Match
After the break, Atlètic Lleida nearly scored in the 57th minute when Asier's header from a corner was saved. The clearest chance for the Segrià team came in the 64th minute, as Soule set up Aser Palacios, who shot at the goalkeeper's leg with an open goal.
Andratx then scored. In the 66th minute, Garry was brought down in the box. The referee awarded a penalty, which Llabrés converted into the top corner, making it 1-0.
Another penalty followed in the 74th minute when Garry was fouled by Joel Llobera during a contested ball. Nacho Sánchez scored the second goal with a powerful shot down the middle. Andratx added a third goal in the 80th minute with a shot from outside the area by Eugenio, which Joel Llobera could not stop.
Atlètic Lleida finished the season second-to-last, 12 points from safety, with only six wins from 34 matches.
Coach Reflects on Season
Atlètic Lleida coach Jordi López described the match as "a reflection of what has happened throughout the season", expressing regret at the ending. "Again, we had very clear chances and conceded a goal from the opponent's first attack," he said. López noted his team had "four or five very good chances" before conceding from a penalty, adding that the opposing bench even suggested it was not a penalty.
"The penalty changed everything, and from there we made mistakes because we pushed forward and let frustration take over," López explained. He did not give details about his future at the club, stating, "It's time to clean up everything that has happened this year. Now is a time for reflection, and when the club deems it appropriate, we will sit down to talk about the future."
