Amposta will host its ninth Fira de l’Ocupació on Thursday, 1 October 2026, bringing together 42 businesses and organisations with jobseekers across the Terres de l’Ebre region. The event, organised by the Cambra de Comerç de Tortosa in collaboration with Amposta town council, takes place at the Municipal Auditorium from 9am, with the official opening at 10am. The fair has drawn strong interest from the local business community, particularly in the industrial sector, with nearly a third of participating firms based in Amposta. Additional employers come from the services, hospitality and construction sectors. Due to high demand, organisers have closed registrations and established a waiting list, reflecting record participation levels.

On-site and virtual opportunities

Attendees will have the chance to submit CVs and take part in rapid interviews with human resources representatives. Last year’s event saw 1,486 visitors, over 700 CVs submitted and more than 400 job vacancies presented. This year’s fair includes workshops and talks to improve employability, including a session by Chamber labour advisor Toni López on personal skills development and a roundtable with HR managers from 11am to 12pm. For the first time, the fair will continue beyond the in-person event through a virtual platform at firaocupacio.cambratortosa.cat, allowing remote access to company profiles and contact options until 6pm.

"We have more demand than ever. Companies want to take part and we’ve had to close registration – there’s even a waiting list," said Francesc Minguell, manager of the Cambra de Comerç de Tortosa.

The presential activities conclude around 2:15pm. Organisers estimate that between 20% and 30% of participants in previous fairs secured stable employment, in addition to seasonal roles during the Christmas period.
