What is Catalan.News?

Catalan.News is an independent English-language news publication covering all eight regions of Catalonia — from the streets of Barcelona to the peaks of the Pyrenees, from the Costa Brava to the Ebre Delta.

Catalonia is home to a growing international community. Hundreds of thousands of English-speaking residents, workers, students, and retirees live across the region, yet most Catalan media publishes exclusively in Catalan or Spanish. Catalan.News exists to bridge that gap.

What we cover

Our coverage spans all eight vegueries (administrative regions) of Catalonia: Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Lleida, Catalunya Central, Alt Pirineu i Aran, Penedès, and Terres de l'Ebre. We report on politics, economy, culture, crime, transport, environment, and the daily decisions that affect life in Catalonia.

Part of the Pub.cat network

Catalan.News is published by Pub.cat, a media company focused on English-language journalism in Catalonia. Our sister publication, Barna.News, covers Barcelona in depth. Together, we aim to give the international community the local journalism it deserves.

Our team

Our small team of journalists covers Catalonia from bureaux in Barcelona, Girona, and Tarragona. Every story is written or edited by a journalist who lives in the region they cover.
